Stellar Evolution - Part 1
Astronomy Education
Looks at the Hertzsprung Russell (HR) Diagram which explains the relationship between luminosity, mass and temperature in stars during their various phases of evolution from a protostar and the main sequence through to red giants and white dwarfs.
Transit of Venus
General Meeting
Observations of transits of Venus aross the face of our Sun have played historically significant roles in astronomy. In this presentation, Professor Roger Clay from the University of Adelaide will discuss what such transits are all about, what people have hoped to find from them, and comment on some of the results of those historical transit measurements.
